Gravel Girls Ready to Take on the RD Cup Challenge at the 2026 Lazer Rally of the Bay

On the 25th of July, the 2026 Lazer Rally of the Bay, based in Batemans Bay on the South Coast of New South Wales, will once again showcase the future of rallying through the RD Cup Regularity Rally, with several first-time competitors ready to tackle the same forest roads used by crews in the Bay Stages and Bay Ramble.

Among the most anticipated entries are the aptly named “Gravel Girls”, with Teneille O’Hara and Abby Bromfield teaming up with their fathers to contest their first full rally event.

For Teneille, the event marks a significant milestone in her motorsport journey. Having recently obtained her learner’s permit, she will step into the driver’s seat and take on the challenge of regularity rallying on some of the South Coast’s renowned rally roads.

Meanwhile, Abby will be gaining valuable experience from the co-driver’s seat alongside her father. While she may be doing so somewhat reluctantly, those who know Abby understand her sights are firmly set on getting behind the wheel as soon as she earns her own learner’s permit.

Both girls are already well-known competitors in Motorkhana and Khanacross events, where they have developed impressive car control, discipline and competitive instincts. Those skills should serve them well as they transition to rallying, with the RD Cup providing the perfect opportunity to experience the challenge of a full rally while sharing the same roads as crews competing in the Bay Stages and Bay Ramble.

While the RD Cup showcases the next generation of rally talent, the Bay Stages field also features an exciting developing crew in Jaydon Pincot and Jo Moore. Pincot will contest the full rally with Moore, whose reputation as a competitor and mentor has helped introduce many newcomers to the sport through her Introduction to Co-Driving courses. Running from the official roadbook and eligible for NSW Clubman Rally Series points, the pairing represents another example of the pathways available for emerging competitors to build experience and progress within the sport.

Adding to the family atmosphere of the event is another intriguing entry, with Oscar and Brett Middleton set to swap their usual roles for the weekend. The father-and-son combination will reverse responsibilities as they take on the unique demands of regularity rallying from a fresh perspective, adding another fascinating storyline to this year’s field.

The RD Cup continues to be an important stepping stone into rallying, offering competitors the chance to experience the sport’s challenge, camaraderie and excitement in an accessible format. With young talents such as Teneille, Abby and Jaydon taking the next step in their rally careers, supported by experienced family members and mentors, the 2026 Lazer Rally of the Bay promises to showcase the bright future of rallying on the South Coast.

As rally weekend approaches, the spotlight will shine across the full spectrum of competitors contesting the 2026 Lazer Rally of the Bay. Whether chasing victory in the Bay Stages, enjoying the adventure of the Bay Ramble, or taking their first steps into the sport through the RD Cup, crews of all ages and experience levels will come together to create another memorable chapter in this classic South Coast rally. From future stars to seasoned campaigners, the Rally of the Bay continues to embody the spirit, challenge and camaraderie that make rallying one of Australia’s great motorsport disciplines.
