By News

The NSSCC Committee have recently developed the refreshed Club Charter / Mission and Pillars. The intention of this document is to provide members with clear understanding of where the club is headed into the future and for the Committee to use as a guide to steer Club decisions. Here is an excerpt:

Club Motto: ‘Passionate about motorsport since 1952’.

Charter / Mission:

Sydney’s North Shore Sporting Car Club is one of Australia’s largest, most passionate and active motorsport clubs, primarily (but not exclusively) involved with gravel and tarmac rally-based competition. The club organises a wide range of events, actively encouraging member participation and maintaining strong relationships with other motorsport clubs and associations.

Our mission is to encourage enthusiastic participation in the club’s activities, including contesting, organising and officiating at motorsport events of all types in an enjoyable, friendly and supportive environment.

NSSCC Khanacross!

By News

Join other rally rookies and legends in this year’s Khanacross event being held at the Sydney Dragway service area, Sunday, May 15 at 10AM – 5PM (drivers briefing at 9:45AM).

What is Khanacross?

A Khanacross is a competition conducted on unsealed surfaces, bitumen or a combination of both and involving a series of timed tests of various layouts. Each test shall be designed to test the acceleration, braking and general manoeuvrability of the vehicle and the skill and judgement of the driver. The course for each test is marked by the appropriate use of arrows and/or direction markers. Khanacross fits in between Motorkhanas and Rallysprints, introducing higher speeds, whilst not requiring high levels of vehicle modification. Junior competitors can compete from age 12. It is recommended that juniors should have built up some experience in Motorkhanas before attempting Khanacross. More information on the NSW Motorkhana series here – http://www.motorkhana.com

Club Historic Registration now available!

By News

The Club is now registered for the RMS Historic Club Vehicle registration scheme. It is available for cars that are largely unmodified, are 30 years or older and are owned by a member of the Club ( you must be financial and maintain your membership, if not the registration is void).

If you are interested then you will need to:

– Obtain an independent pink slip from a vehicle inspection supplier
– Contact our club historic registrar Shaun Atkinson on 0425 250 613 or via email shaun.shalin@gmail.com to arrange an inspection by him which will cost you $90
– Once he is satisfied that the car meets the criteria and is safe he will sign off the documentation
– You then take the forms along with the pink slip and club membership to an RMS or Service NSW centre and apply for Historic Rego
– They will supply the number plates and a registration sticker for display on the car
– There are strict requirements for usage on the normal regular Historic Rego scheme which you can see here: http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/…/get-nsw-regi…/historic-vehicles/
– The new logbook trial is currently underway and under strict conditions will allow you to use the vehicle for up to 60 days and you can see the details here: http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/…/historic-v…/log-book-trial.html…

We will have an information area at our next Auto Brunch Cars and Coffee event at St Ives Showgrounds on Sunday 1 May. See you there! s
